The 1989 home was in need of refreshing. The kitchen looked dated. We kept the sink under the window, but moved the cooktop from the island, leaving the space a long work counter and added a range with wood hood and a separate oven and steam oven. The clients no longer wanted the open space between the top of the cabinet and the nine-foot ceiling, as it collected dust and grease.
The light maple millwork was all painted to white to match the cabinets, getting rid of the 80’s look.
We added large stacked crown molding on most of the kitchen and, above the sink/bay window and dry bar, we added cabinets going up to the ceiling, with glass doors and open shelves with lights to display favorite memories of their vacations.
Additional lighting was added, with recessed cans, under-cabinet lights and a pendant light over the island. Even the family room got recessed lights, so they no longer had to rely solely on lamps.

On a previous remodel they had added wood looking tile to the front entry. We found that the tile was still in stock, so that became the flooring throughout the kitchen and back entry/laundry room.
The homeowners chose Crystal Cabinets in a white traditional style, with a brown highlight for the perimeter. The island was changed to a rich brown walnut. The counter top is Cambria Hampshire, with the dry bar in walnut wood and a large subway tile backsplash. Kitchen Aid and Wolf appliances were selected. The light maple millwork was all painted to white to match the cabinets, getting rid of the 80’s look.
